Brief History of the Bass Guitar

The electric bass guitar was introduced in the 1930s. Since the 1950s, it has essentially taken the place of the orchestral double bass in popular music. Alongside the electric guitar, the bass became ever more prominent as Rock and various other forms of contemporary popular music started to rely on its warm and powerful sound.

Bass Sizes and Types

The bass is available in two sizes, standard (long-scale) and short-scale. This gives students some flexibility in choosing the size that fits them best.

Bass players also get to choose between solid-body basses and semi-hollow basses, which offer a combination of traditional acoustic and electronic tone production.
