Ling J.
Ling is a classically trained mezzo-soprano and passionate music educator with over two decades of teaching experience across China, the UK, and the United States. Holding a Master of Music (MMus) in Opera from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Ling blends deep technical expertise with a warm, student-centered approach.
For over 14 years, Ling served as a Voice Instructor at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, where she taught vocal technique, language diction, and opera scene workshops, and led choral rehearsals. Her students achieved first-place honors in a national choral competition in China—a testament to her effective mentorship.
In 2017, Ling relocated to the U.S., earning Yamaha certification and teaching at the Chino Hills Yamaha Music School in California. She later served as a K-12 Music Teacher at South Hills Academy, successfully producing the 2019 Christmas Concert. Since 2024, she has been teaching voice and piano at Fort Bend Music Center in Houston.
As a performer, Ling has portrayed numerous operatic roles, including Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro, Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica, and Geneviève in Pelléas et Mélisande, with performances in the UK, China, and the U.S.
Guided by her philosophy—"Music Itself is the Best Form of Education" —Ling finds joy in witnessing her students grow both musically and personally. She takes pride in seeing them transform from impatient beginners to calm, composed musicians. Her teaching adapts to each student's unique needs, rapidly identifying weaknesses and providing effective solutions. Whether guiding a child's first piano lesson or coaching an advanced vocalist, Ling Jia is committed to building strong foundations and fostering a lifelong love for music.
