Michael F.
Michael began his musical pursuit studying composition at the Longy School of Music conservatory in Boston studying under Jermey Van Buskirk and Howard Frazin. There he was able to be a part of seminars with Pulitzer prize awarded composer Augusta Reed Thomas and renowned music theorist Alan Forte. He later studied at the University of St. Thomas in Houston studying piano with Paul Krystofiak. Percussion being Michaels principle instrument with a focus in marching battery he was a member of the Frontier Drum and Bugle Corps DCA. He also has strong background in orchestral percussion making state UIL as a marimba soloist while in High School, having studied under percussionist Lavel Jones who is alumni of the Santa Clara Vanguard tenor line.
Michael also has a strong background in jazz drum set focusing on post bop and contemporary styles. He has playing experience with bassist Burke Shaw of the Houston Symphony
