Ho-Ling C.
Dr. Ho-Ling C. began her piano studies at the age of five in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. After winning the Yamaha Electone National Competition at age ten, her family immigrated to Houston where she could receive better education and performance opportunities. During her high school years, Ms. Ho-Ling continued competing by participating in UIL Solo and Ensemble Competitions, receiving all Division 1 ratings in piano solo and small ensembles at both the regional and state level. Upon graduating from high school, Ms. Ho-Ling entered the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Piano Performance. While at U.T. Austin, she studied under the direction of Professor Nancy Garrett and Professor Sophia Gilmson, receiving her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy and Performance. She would then go on to earn her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance in 2004 from the University of Texas at Austin.
Ms. Ho-Ling began teaching piano lessons at age sixteen to the children of her family friends. After thirty plus years of teaching in both piano private lessons and classroom teaching, her passion is still one on one instruction. Ms. Ho-Ling’s philosophy is that each student is unique. Shestrives to tailor lessons individually suited to each of her student’s needs. Her ultimate goals are to inspire students to have a lifelong appreciation for music and apply what they learn from her to their everyday lives.
Ms. Ho-Ling teaches at Cy-Fair Music and Arts and Music Academy of Texas at Katy.
