Daniela Y.

Daniela began her violin studies under the Suzuki method with the tutoring of Angelica Villa. In 2013 Daniela was accepted into the conservatory of the National University of Colombia, the most prestigious institution in the country, where she studied with the renowned teachers Leonardo Federico Hoyos (who graduated from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory) and Juan Carlos Higuita Estrada (graduated from the University of Music and Performance Arts in Vienna). As an orchestral musician, she has been part of BCO (Bogota Chamber Orchestra) and FOSBO (Fundacion Orquesta Sinfonica de Bogota). In 2021 she was accepted into Moore’s School of Music at the University of Houston to pursue her master's degree in Performance and Pedagogy with Dr. Kirsten Yon. Daniela has been awarded multiple scholarships including the Melcher Violin Scholarship at the University of Houston and the Hirsch Scholarship at the University of Houston. She began her work as a teacher from the beginning of her career, and since then she has worked with multiple students of a wide range of ages having the opportunity to implement various teaching methods including the Suzuki method. Daniela is currently pursuing her master’s degree at the University of Houston where she will later pursue a Certificate Degree in Violin Performance.
