Daniel J.

Daniel Johnson began learning the piano at age 7, and then started the violin at age 12. By age 14, he toured Italy and performed as a soloist and with a piano quartet at prestigious venues. Daniel also made TMEA Region and All-State every year of his education from grade 7 and above. He loved performing in The Houston Youth Symphony, The Virtuosi of Houston and as the Concertmaster of Stephen F Austin High School for many years.

Daniel had a successful audition to study at a prestigious school outside of Boston for his last two years of high school. His studies at Walnut Hill School for the Arts were extremely beneficial for his career and Daniel also got to study with amazing faculty at The New England Conservatory of Music, where he became Concertmaster of the Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Daniel loved to compete in music competitions, locally and internationally. He received Honors at the Clear Lake Competition and David Newby Concerto Competition, 2nd place winner of the Roman Totenberg Competition, 3rd place winner of the American Protégé International Virtuoso Competition performing as a soloist in Carnegie Hall, 2nd place winner of the CAI Concert Artists International Music Competition performing for a second time as a soloist in Carnegie Hall, 2nd place winner of the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition, performing as a soloist in Brussels at the BOZAR Centre of Fine Arts, winner of 10,000 Euro Sponsorship to produce a solo album distributed worldwide under prestigious Orpheus Classical Label, and 1st place winner of the New York Classical Music Competition.

Daniel received his Bachelor of Music degree specialized in violin performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music for his Undergraduate Studies. He worked as an Assistant Director of Orchestras at Strake Jesuit and St. Agnes College Preparatory School for a few years, and is currently the Orchestra Director for three orchestral groups at the Honor Roll School. Daniel’s primary goal is to help kids and adults grow and love music, whether its on the violin, viola, cello, piano, or through music composition. He has been a dedicated teacher for 16 years and many of his beloved students are confident and outgoing performers and composers.
